Injection molding TPU is a type of thermoplastic polyurethane specially formulated for injection molding processes. TPU combines the elasticity of rubber with the processing advantages of plastic. It is melt-processable, recyclable, and ideal for producing precise, high-performance parts with excellent surface finish.
Advantage of the Injection molding TPU
TPU is the material of choice in applications where abrasion resistance is critical. These include automotive interior parts, sports and leisure, technical parts, and specialty cables. It shows excellent results when compared to other thermoplastic materials.
The abrasion resistance of materials is usually determined by measuring the weight loss of a specimen in a standardized wear test. This is shown in the chart below:

Highly Breathable TPU Ensures Optimum Comfort
Comfort is the utmost priority when you design sportswear or building and construction products. Highly breathable TPUs are available to ensure optimum comfort.
Traditional TPU has a vapor transmission below 1,500 g/m2/day. While highly breathable grades have values as high as 10,000 g/m2/day (+560%). Traditional TPUs can be blended with breathable ones. This fine-tunes the breathability according to your application requirements.
Polyester, Polyether and Polycaprolactone are the three main chemical classes of TPU granules.

Processing Guide of TPU by Injection Molding
Drying Recommendation for Injection Molded Thermoplastic Polyurethane:
Before processing, TPU should be dried for 3–4 hours at 100–110 °C to remove moisture effectively. In conditions of high temperature and humidity, such as during summer months, the drying time can be extended by 1–2 additional hours as needed.
It is important to ensure that the moisture content of the material is below 0.03% before processing, in order to prevent defects such as surface streaks, bubbles, or poor mechanical properties in the final molded product.
