The production technology of polyether polyols for rigid foam polyurethane production begins with the introduction of potassium hydroxide catalyst into the initiator (sucrose, glycerol and sorbitol). The solution is then reacted with propylene oxide to form an intermediate. The catalyst is removed using an acid, producing a salt that must be filtered. Finally, the byproducts and water in the polyol are purified by distillation.
