Composite-initiated Polyether Polyols refer to polyether polyols containing two or more initiators. Such initiators usually include glycerol (propylene glycol), sorbitol, sucrose, etc., which react with ethylene oxide (EO), propylene oxide (PO), etc. in the presence of a catalyst to generate polyether polyols‌.

Composite-initiated Polyether Polyols are a special type of polyether polyol that are prepared using composite initiators,they are important raw materials widely used in polyurethane products. Composite-initiated Polyether Polyols are formed by the reaction of polyether compounds with polyols, resulting in high molecular weight compounds with multiple hydroxyl functional groups.

Reactivity‌: The reactivity of the polyether polyol with composite initiator depends on the number of active hydrogens in the initiator. Generally speaking, when the molecular weight is not much different, for the same PO type polyether, the polyether with ethylenediamine and aniline as initiators has the highest activity, and the polyether with pentaerythritol and sucrose polyols as initiators is also relatively high, while the polyether with ethylene glycol and propylene glycol as initiators has lower activity.


‌Viscosity and hydroxyl value‌: For the same type of polyether, the higher the hydroxyl value, the smaller the molecular weight, the higher the reactivity, and the lower the viscosity. EO-terminated polyethers are usually more active and more hydrophilic than all-PO polyethers. The higher the EO content, the more obvious this trend is.
