What Is The Medical TPU?

Oct 28, 2025 Leave a message

Medical TPU is a high-performance material designed to meet the demanding needs of the healthcare industry. Combining flexibility, strength, and biocompatibility, it is the go-to choice for a wide range of medical devices and products.

Its soft yet durable nature makes medical TPU ideal for applications that require comfort and reliability, such as catheters, tubing, wearable devices, and protective films. Despite its flexibility, it is highly resistant to abrasion, impacts, and repeated use, ensuring long-lasting performance in critical medical environments.

Safety is paramount in healthcare, and medical TPU delivers. It meets international biocompatibility standards and can be sterilized using common methods like autoclaving, gamma radiation, or ethylene oxide. This makes it perfectly suited for products that come into direct or indirect contact with the human body. Additionally, TPU can be produced in transparent, colored, or even antimicrobial forms, allowing manufacturers to create innovative and functional medical solutions.

Beyond medical devices, medical TPU's chemical resistance and stability make it suitable for laboratory equipment, protective coatings, and disposable healthcare products. It maintains its performance even under repeated sterilization and exposure to fluids or chemicals, offering peace of mind to both manufacturers and end-users.

With medical TPU, healthcare manufacturers can combine safety, flexibility, and durability in one material. It is a reliable, versatile, and high-quality solution that continues to support innovation in medical devices, ensuring patient comfort and product performance at every step.

we have following kind of medical TPU:

55D is an aromatic polyether-based thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) material designed for medical applications.

The physical property tests are based on 2 mm injection-molded sheets, and the test results represent typical values.
Prior to testing, all samples should be conditioned for at least 48 hours in an environment of 23 °C and 50% relative
humidity.

Packaging
25 kg PE bag

Processing Recommendations
Before extrusion processing, moisture content must be below 300 ppm. It is recommended to dry the material using a
dehumidifying dryer with a dew point below −40 °C and a drying temperature of 90–100 °C. Conventional single-screw
extruders can generally be used. Screws are recommended to be barrier-type or progressive type, with a length-to-
diameter (L/D) ratio of 28 or higher.
