Why Polyurethane Is Waterproof And Oil-resistant in The Polyurethane Sheet?

Polyurethane waterproof coatings have become increasingly popular due to their superior waterproofing and oil resistance properties. Initially, waterproofing materials such as tar asphalt and petroleum tar paper were commonly used, originating from Europe and introduced to China in the 1920s. With advancements in technology, modern waterproofing materials quickly developed, and by the 1980s, various high polymer waterproofing materials emerged.

In China, waterproofing materials have gradually formed three major series: sheet materials, coatings, and sealing materials. Synthetic polymer waterproofing materials, mainly composed of synthetic rubber or resin as the main film-forming substance, with the addition of other auxiliary materials, have become a prominent category. These materials include polyurethane, acrylics, and their mixtures.

Polyurethane waterproof coatings are formulated from isocyanates, polyethers, and other additives through addition polymerization reactions to form prepolymers containing isocyanate groups. These coatings are characterized by their high strength, large elongation, and excellent water resistance. They possess strong adaptability to substrate deformation.

Polyurethane waterproof coatings are single-component, environmentally friendly liquid coatings, primarily composed of imported polyurethane prepolymers without additives such as tar and asphalt. They cure upon contact with moisture in the air, forming a strong, seamless, and integral film on the substrate surface.

To meet the evolving demands of coal washing technology domestically and internationally, polyurethane arc screens and polyurethane-coated stainless steel screens have been newly developed. Large-scale metallurgical rubber rollers and papermaking rubber rollers, including metallurgical cold-rolling pinch rollers and solvent-resistant coating rollers, have been identified as exclusively supplied by the institute, completely replacing similar foreign products. Not only do they meet performance requirements, but they are also priced at only one-third to one-half of imported products.
