What is polyurethane
The full name of polyurethane is polyurethane, which is a general term for macromolecular compounds containing repeating carbamate groups in the main chain. Polyurethane can also contain ether ester urea biuret urea group introduced by polyurethane in China. It is formed by the addition of organic diisocyanates or polyisocyanates with dihydroxy or polyhydroxy compounds. Polyurethane material has a wide range of uses and can replace rubber, plastic, nylon, etc. It is used in airports, hotels, building materials, automobile factories, coal mines, cement factories, high-end apartments, villas, landscaping, colored stone art, parks, and so on.
The role of polyurethane:
1. Polyurethane foam materials: divided into rigid polyurethane foam, semi rigid polyurethane foam and soft polyurethane foam materials. Rigid polyurethane foam is mainly used for building thermal insulation materials, thermal insulation materials (thermal insulation of pipeline facilities, etc.), articles for daily use (bedding materials of beds, sofas, etc., thermal insulation layers of refrigerators, air conditioners, etc., and core materials of surfboards, etc.), and transportation tools (cushion, ceiling, etc. of automobiles, planes, and railway vehicles)
2. Polyurethane waterproof material: The use of polyurethane waterproof material is quite convenient, and it can be mixed and coated on site for room temperature moisture curing to obtain a waterproof layer with no joints, rubber elasticity, and good performance. And it is easy to repair after damage. Generally used as flooring materials, track and field track materials, racetracks, park flooring materials, insulated window frames, etc.
3. Polyurethane elastomer: Polyurethane elastomer has excellent tensile strength, tear resistance, impact resistance, wear resistance, weather resistance, hydrolysis resistance, oil resistance, and other advantages. Mainly used as coating materials (such as hoses, gaskets, tires, rollers, gears, pipelines, etc.), insulators, shoe soles, and internship tires.
4. Polyurethane coating: Polyurethane coating has strong adhesion, and the coating film has excellent wear resistance, water resistance, and drug resistance. Mainly used for furniture coatings, building materials coatings, and industrial printing inks.
5. Polyurethane adhesive: The performance of the cured material can be adjusted by adjusting the ratio of isocyanates and polyols, achieving high adhesion to the substrate, excellent water resistance, oil resistance, and chemical resistance. Polyurethane adhesives are mainly used in industries such as packaging, construction, wood, automobiles, and footwear.
6. Biomedical materials: Polyurethane has excellent biocompatibility and is gradually being widely used as a biomedical material, which can be used in the manufacturing of artificial heart pacemakers, artificial blood vessels, artificial bones, artificial esophagus, artificial kidneys, artificial dialysis membranes, etc.
