What is the application for polyurethane?
Polyurethane generally comes in three types:
Solid (flakes, rods, granules);
Liquid;
Foam.
Solids are used to make gaskets, ferrules, bushings, seals, quiet blocks and other parts.
Polyurethane is popular with tubeless tire manufacturers due to its strength and roughness.
The material is also suitable for manufacturing rotating surfaces for sports equipment, wheels for strollers, and lifting and transport equipment.
The liquid form has the property of forming a sealing anti-corrosion coating on concrete structures, roofs and conveyor belts. The material is used as a binding ingredient in sealants, paints, adhesives and varnishes. If the frozen liquid plastic is vulcanized, this results in structurally complex protective elements such as cuffs and moldings.
Foam insulates buildings and technical equipment. The material is used to make ultra-lightweight, hard-wearing sneaker soles. This material is widely used and in high demand, making a complete product list impossible.
What are the manufacturing industries that primarily use polyurethane foam?
Heavy industry: used to manufacture vibration tables and conditional mobile devices;
Construction. The material can be used as an insulating material; it can also be used to create films to provide reliable protection against sedimentation;
Automobile manufacturing. Plastics are used in interior decoration, production of tires, gaskets and seals;
Drugs. Due to its neutrality to pharmaceutical ingredients and absence of harmful secretions, polyurethane is used as a material for prosthetics, implants, condoms, and devices;
Furniture manufacturing. The material is used in the manufacture of linings, fasteners and decorative elements;
Sports equipment manufacturing. Treadmills, non-slip surfaces, exercise restraints;
Light industry. Soles, waterproof pads, orthopedic products, leather alternatives.
What is the production technology of polyurethane?
The basis for the production of polyurethane are components obtained during the oil refining process. It is an isocyanate and a polyol.
The percentages of main ingredients and additives depend on the physical properties to be obtained in the final product.
This determines the form in which the polymer product is manufactured-solid, liquid, or viscous.
