Maintenance And Maintenance Of Polyurethane Wheels

1. Daily inspection: prevent it before it happens

Daily inspection is the basis for the maintenance of the polyurethane wheel. It is recommended to establish a regular inspection mechanism (such as a comprehensive inspection before daily use and weekly), focusing on the following:

Appearance status: Observe whether there are cracks, scratches, falling blocks, deformation or surface hardening and sticking on the wheel surface. If the polyurethane wheel cracks, it may be caused by overload, low temperature embrittlement or aging, and it needs to be replaced in time to avoid crack expansion and fracture; the sticky surface is mostly caused by high temperature environment or contact with organic solvents. The use environment needs to be checked and cleaned.
Rotation flexibility: Turn the wheel by hand to feel whether there is a caton, abnormal noise or excessive resistance. If the rotation is not smooth, the bearing may be rusty, foreign objects stuck or the axle is loose. It is necessary to disassemble, clean, lubricate the bearing, or fasten the axle.
Connection between the axle and the bracket: Check whether the connecting parts such as the axle, nuts, bolts, etc. are loose, falling off or corroded.Loose connecting parts will cause the wheels to shift, uneven force, and accelerate wear; when the corrosion is severe, the connecting parts need to be replaced to avoid structural failure.
Load-bearing situation: Confirm that the actual load-bearing does not exceed the rated load of the polyurethane wheel.Long-term overload can cause compression deformation of the wheel surface, damage to the internal structure, and even cause the wheel to break. The carrying capacity of the wheel set needs to be reasonably matched according to the weight of the equipment to avoid overloaded operation.
Degree of wear: Measure the thickness of the wheel surface. If the amount of wear exceeds 30% of the original thickness, or the wheel surface is obviously uneven, it will affect the driving stability and load-bearing capacity, and it needs to be replaced in time.

2. Cleaning and maintenance: remove impurities and extend life

Polyurethane wheels are easily contaminated with dust, oil, debris and other impurities during use. If they are not cleaned for a long time, they will exacerbate the wear of the wheel surface and even affect the rotating performance. Cleaning needs to follow the principle of "regular cleaning + targeted treatment"":

Routine cleaning: After daily use, wipe the wheel surface and axle parts with a dry rag or soft brush to remove dry impurities such as dust and sediment on the surface, and avoid impurities from rubbing the wheel surface when rotating.
Oily cleaning: If the wheel surface is contaminated with oil, butter and other oily stains, it needs to be diluted with a neutral detergent (such as soapy water) and wiped, then rinsed with water, and finally dried with a dry cloth. It is strictly forbidden to use strong organic solvents such as acetone, toluene, alcohol, etc. Such substances will corrode polyurethane materials, causing the wheel surface to swell, crack, and become sticky.
Special environmental cleaning: When used in workshops and construction sites with a lot of dust, the cleaning frequency needs to be increased, and compressed air can be used to purify the dust in the gaps of the axles; after use in a humid environment, the wheel surface and bearing parts need to be dried in time to prevent bearing rust.
Bearing lubrication: For polyurethane wheels with bearings, it is recommended to lubricate every 3-6 months (humid or high-frequency use environments can be shortened to 1-2 months).Choose lithium-based grease or special bearing lubricating oil and apply it to the inside of the bearing and the contact parts of the axle and the wheel to reduce rotational friction and avoid bearing stuck and rust.Impurities on the bearing surface need to be cleaned before lubrication to ensure the lubrication effect.

Summary
The core of the maintenance and maintenance of polyurethane wheels lies in "prevention-based, standardized use, and timely handling".Potential problems are discovered in a timely manner through regular inspections, scientific cleaning and lubrication to reduce wear and tear, strict compliance with usage specifications to avoid improper wear and tear, reasonable storage and extension of idle life, in order to maximize the service life of polyurethane wheels, ensure equipment operating efficiency, and reduce maintenance costs.
