BQ 249 is a red, single-coat, solvent-based reactive adhesive designed for priming and bonding various polar substrates. These substrates include ceramics, concrete, steel, plated metals, aluminum, copper, as well as many thermoplastics (such as nylon, polyester, and carbon fiber) and some thermosetting resins (such as polyurethane, epoxy, and phenolic resins). BQ 249 is a second-generation product that incorporates the latest technology to provide stable and reliable bonding even in harsh environments

Features and Benefits:
Versatility – BQ 249 has a wide range of applications. It is commonly used as a primer for various polar substrates and as an adhesive for many thermosetting resins (such as polyurethane and DAP). When combined with BQ 200B, BQ 249 can bond many rubbers (such as ACM, ECO, EPDM).
Ease of Use – Suitable for spraying, dipping, or brushing.
Fast Drying – BQ 249 contains fast-drying solvents that help reduce production time.

Applications:
Mixing – BQ 249 does not require mixing before use. If dilution is needed, use BQ 249 thinner or consult your distributor for advice. Containers should be supported and grounded before opening, mixing, or emptying.
Addition of BQ 200B – At low temperatures, BQ 249 can be combined with BQ 200B. This also improves environmental resistance and shortens bonding time. The working life of the adhesive after mixing is 8 hours. Adding 10% BQ 200B enables BQ 249 to bond with pre-cured rubber and many other surfaces.
Surface Preparation – Remove all surface contaminants, including dust, grease, water, and oxidized metal or polymer layers.
Application Methods – Methods include spraying, dipping, or coating with polyester felt. On metal substrates, optimum adhesion is achieved with a dry film thickness of 20 µm – 25 µm. Fabrics and curtains require a thinner layer. Use in a well-ventilated area.
Drying and Curing – BQ249 contains volatile solvents and dries quickly at 20°C. Avoid excessively thick single coats, as this will require longer drying times. The product bonds rapidly to substrates, and this bond improves over time.
BQ 249 does not require pre-curing, but if metals need preheating before casting, BQ 249 can withstand >24 hours @110°C or >16 hours @130°C. Curing times vary depending on substrate, part size, and temperature. Adhesive-coated parts have a shelf life of 3 months; when BQ 200B is added, the working life is 1 day.
Cleaning – Use MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) or a mixture of MEK and MPA (2-methoxy-1-methylethyl acetate).
Storage – Store adhesive-coated parts below 30°C and prevent surface contamination (e.g., water, oil, dust). BQ 249 is highly flammable and must be stored in a ventilated, cool, dry place, protected from contamination and moisture. Do not open the product before ready to use. Reseal containers when not in use.
Packaging – 5 L, 25 L, and 200 L steel drums.
Safety Handling Information – Consult the BQ 249 Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) before use, handling, or storage. This product is for commercial use only and should be handled by trained personnel.
