Polyurethane flexible foam (referred to as polyurethane soft foam, PU flexible foam) refers to a type of soft polyurethane foam with a certain elasticity. Among polyurethane foam products, more than half are soft foams.
PU flexible foam is widely used in various industries. Its main uses include: furniture cushions, mattresses, vehicle seat cushions, fabric composite products, packaging materials and sound insulation materials, etc.
According to the different degrees of softness and hardness, that is, load resistance, polyurethane soft foam can be divided into ordinary soft foam, super soft foam, high load-bearing soft foam, high resilience foam, etc.
Polyurethane flexible foam can be divided into block foam and molded soft foam according to the production process.
Cushion material
PU soft foam is an ideal material for making furniture cushions and car and boat seats. Cushion material is the area with the largest consumption of PU soft foam.
When polyurethane block foam is used to make seat cushions, it is generally cut into simple rectangular parallelepipeds, such as bench seats and sofas on trains and buses. High-resilience foam plastics have high load-bearing capacity and good comfort, and have been widely used in seat cushions, backrests, armrests, etc. of various vehicles.
PU soft foam has good breathability and moisture permeability and is suitable for making mattresses. For example, most mattresses called "Simmons" in my country are made of PU soft foam sheets, springs and fabrics.
Slow rebound foam (viscoelastic polyurethane foam, memory foam) has become popular in recent years as mattresses, pillow cores, cushions and other cushion materials.
sound insulation material
Open-cell PU soft foam has good sound-absorbing and shock-absorbing properties and can be used as indoor sound insulation materials for broadband audio devices. It can also be directly used to cover noise sources (such as blowers and air conditioners).
PU soft foam is also used as sound insulation material in equipment.
Cars, stereos, and speakers use open-cell foam as sound-absorbing material to make the sound quality more beautiful.
Thin sheets made of polyurethane block foam can be combined with PVC materials and fabrics and used as linings for the inner walls of automobile compartments, which can reduce noise and have a certain decorative effect.
